Barcelona to Host Inaugural Fixture at Upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend
The club confirmed their first game will take place at the partially upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Basque side in domestic competition over two years following their departure to allow renovations to start.
“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Not all seats will be available with 45,401 fans can be present under the licence granted. After final construction, the Camp Nou is due to hold over 104,000 attendees, up from the previous 99,000. The club said completed upgrades featured an updated entryway for the team plus modern locker rooms.
Stadium Testing
Barça organized an open training session on the home pitch earlier this month. The club said they are seeking authorization from European football’s governing body for their upcoming Champions League fixture facing Eintracht in December in the renovated venue. Their recent games have been held at the Olympic Stadium.
