British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos stated on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on December 29th, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The boxer had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.
“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.
Honoring the Deceased
Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the loss of his two dear friends.”
His release from the hospital comes as the global fight fans shared condolences for the star in the aftermath of the heartbreaking incident.
