Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is filing a lawsuit against the manufacturers of Tylenol, alleging the companies concealed alleged dangers that the drug created to children's brain development.

The lawsuit arrives a month after Former President Trump publicized an unverified association between using acetaminophen - referred to as paracetamol - throughout gestation and autism spectrum disorder in young ones.

Paxton is suing Johnson & Johnson, which once produced the drug, the exclusive pain medication suggested for pregnant women, and the current manufacturer, which now manufacturers it.

In a official comment, he stated they "betrayed America by profiting off of pain and promoting medication without regard for the dangers."

Kenvue states there is lacking scientific proof connecting acetaminophen to autism.

"These manufacturers deceived for years, knowingly endangering countless individuals to increase profits," Paxton, from the Republican party, stated.

The company commented that it was "seriously troubled by the spread of false claims on the safety of acetaminophen and the potential impact that could have on the welfare of American women and children."

On its online platform, the company also said it had "consistently assessed the relevant science and there is insufficient valid information that demonstrates a verified association between taking paracetamol and autism spectrum disorder."

Associations representing doctors and medical practitioners agree.

ACOG has declared acetaminophen - the main ingredient in Tylenol - is among limited choices for expectant mothers to manage discomfort and elevated temperature, which can pose significant medical dangers if left untreated.

"In over twenty years of research on the consumption of acetaminophen in pregnancy, zero credible investigations has successfully concluded that the use of paracetamol in any trimester of gestation leads to neurological conditions in young ones," the association stated.

This legal action mentions latest statements from the Trump administration in arguing the drug is potentially dangerous.

Last month, the former president caused concern from medical authorities when he told women during pregnancy to "fight like hell" not to use Tylenol when unwell.

The US Food and Drug Administration then released a statement that physicians should contemplate reducing the consumption of Tylenol, while also mentioning that "a proven link" between the drug and autism spectrum disorder in children has not been established.

The Health Department head Robert F Kennedy Jr, who oversees the Food and Drug Administration, had promised in spring to conduct "comprehensive study program" that would identify the source of autism spectrum disorder in a short period.

But experts cautioned that finding a unique factor of autism - considered by experts to be the result of a complicated interplay of genetic and surrounding conditions - would be difficult.

Autism is a type of enduring cognitive variation and condition that impacts how people experience and interact with the world, and is recognized using doctors' observations.

In his court filing, Paxton - a Trump ally who is seeking federal office - asserts Kenvue and Johnson & Johnson "deliberately disregarded and sought to suppress the evidence" around acetaminophen and autism spectrum disorder.

The case attempts to require the companies "remove any promotional materials" that claims Tylenol is reliable for women during pregnancy.

The court case echoes the complaints of a assembly of mothers and fathers of young ones with autism spectrum disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder who filed suit against the producers of acetaminophen in two years ago.

A federal judge rejected the legal action, saying investigations from the plaintiffs' authorities was not conclusive.
